Class Overview

• Demanding intensive course
• Lectures 6 planned others as needed by
  students (after 1st day)
• Group discussions inside and outside class and
  labs
• Lab sessions (10) to support of learning,
  discussions and presentations
• Research on web and Analysis activities
• Writing assignments
• Preparation for discussions
• Preparation for presentations
• Preparation for summit
• Reading assignments (daily for first 2 weeks)

Class structure

• Active participation by both students and
  instructors
• Students participation is graded
• Total immersion class
• Rapid (every class) feedback between instructors
  and students
• Possible modifications of plans as class unfolds
  to adjust to students-driven events (e.g., new
  topics, additional mini-lectures)

Requirements

• Attendance required to all classes (including
  labs) unless permission from instructor or TA
  requested in advance and make up work obtained
• All writing assignments returned on time (as
  indicated on web)
• Writing assignments started in lab
• Active participation in discussions and
  presentations (everyone in group must present)
• Work collaboratively with other students in the
  class and in the group

Expectations

• Writing high level of thinking guidelines in
  the form of rubrics are provided and instructors
  gives rapid feedback
• Discussion - thorough preparation and research,
  look at topics from different perspectives
• Presentations thorough preparation and research
  Powerpoint presentations must be prepared for
  discussion and debate
• Topics of interest discussion, preliminary
  by-in, and class- Powerpoint presentations to the
  entire class for agreement discussion of action
  items and writing of corresponding article for
  agreement
• Summit thorough preparation and research, final
  agreement negotiations
