Background
Throughout the industry, airbag connector
manufacturers have long utilized ferromagnetic
devices to suppress EMI/RFI phenomenon in an
airbag safety restraint system. Other solutions,
such as coiled wire soldered into place (within
the connector), proved to be more expensive and
suffered from sizing constraints. Airbag
connectors have long been plagued with these and
other problems directly involving these
components. These other problems range from poor
EMI suppression characteristics to cracking and
breaking of the suppression components in
assembly processes. To solve these problems, a
device that has superior EMI suppression
capabilities, coupled with excellent robustness,
has been designed for introduction into the
airbag safety restraint system.
