The strategy
  • To achieve maximum benefit from the tour we
    should keep to the plan.
  • Develop a coordinated marketing plan with the
help of specialists in Marketing from India Mr.
Inayath Khan and from UK Mr. Graham Jarvis.
  • To balance the marketing for education and
commercial sector by visiting the selected
    institutions and organisations.

12
Media Advertisement
  • We where able to place media advertisements two
weeks prior and during the weeks we where there.
  •  Media advertisement in India is very expensive,
    so watch out.
  • We utilised our education consultants by having
them do some field work. i.e visit the higher
education Colleges and Universities and talk to
faculty members and students about our tour and
presentation. This I felt was the most successful
way in reaching the target audience directly.

13
The Beginning
  • Our journey to India was a unique and highly
rewarding and intuitive tour. We started work
from the time we landed in Delhi. My first
lecture and presentation was at the Aligarh
Muslim University. I was quite amazed how the
old imperial buildings have survived the tropical
weather. I can only relate this unique Institute
to the likes of Cambridge for it had the most
outstanding environment, with an aroma for
learning. Many students and lecturers riding on
their bikes and the people on rickshaws.

14
The First Seminar
  • The seminar was based on my lecture on Internet
Security and how BITE is tackling this area in
terms of development and education. The amazing
thing that struck me was that most of the staff
where either qualified from the UK or US. Maybe
this a learning curve for us to go and study in
other parts of the world to understand how other
    communities live and work.

15
The Second Seminar
  • Seminar at the Indian International Centre where
over 200 people attended. The audience was a
    mixture of students, parents, businessmen,
lecturers and scholars. This seminar was
organised by Professor Dr Zaidi and ex-principal
of the Central University of India.
  •
  • Meeting with the Vice Chancellor of the Central
University of India. This meeting was very
fruitful and the talks ended with an assurance
for future collaboration with the school of
    computing, management and teacher training.

16
Delhi to Ahmedabad
  • Meeting with Education Minister, Local college
principal, and seminar at the Land Fortune Hotel.
  •
  • Visit to colleges and higher education
    institutions
  • This continued throughout the tour.

17
Who did we meet?
  • Lecturers
  • Professors
  • Students
  • Large organisations Outsourcing Organisations
  • Parents Guardians
  • Ministers of Education
  • In Maharasta Hyderabad
  • Minister of Tourism
  • Hyderabad

18
The Lessons Learnt
  • This tour was a success story for The British
Institute of Technology E-commerce and a unique
way for developing an understanding why the
Indian students are very focused towards higher
    education.
  •
  • It seems that the uptake of HE in UK is dropping
and the government needs to motivate people
    through incentives and grants.

19
Conclusion
  • A compact tour developing from strength to
strength and a journey that will stay in the
diary of my memory for as long as I live.
