- The 2008 Farm Bill authorized the creation of a
new agency, the National Institute of Food and
Agriculture. - All current authorities administered by CSREES
will be transferred to the new agency. - The transition will be complete by October 1,
2009.

- 2008 Farm bill made significant changes to the
NRI - Renamed Agriculture and Food Research Initiative
(AFRI) but much more than just a name change
