using the Recreation and Conservation Offices
(RCO) online grant management system, PRISM. - Who to contact if you need help.

3Getting a Password
- To enter your application into PRISM, youll need
to get a password. - Please allow two days for your request to be
processed. - Once you have a password, youre ready to start
with the first step in the application process
entering your project proposal name.
4Pre-Application
- Step 1 Open PRISM
- Step 2 Click on New Application
- You are now in the application wizard and can
begin to enter your application. - Step 3 Follow Wizard Prompts
- Youll be typing in the grant program, project
type, project name, and information about your
organization. In return, youll get a project
number that will track your application
throughout the process.

6Filling Out an Application
- To submit a grant application you will need to
- Complete all tabs in PRISM
- Attach all information outlined in Manual 5
Application Procedures - Move your grant into application submitted
status in PRISM by - April 1, 2009 NOVA and RTP
- May 1, 2009 BFP, BIG, FARR, and LWCF

8Application Levels
- There are three levels of information for most
projects - Project level (information about overall project)
- Worksite level (information about work done in
different geographic areas) - Property level (information about work at a
specific site)
9Project Level Information
Project Level Tabs
- Roles contact information for those involved in
the project - Description overall description of the project.
Be clear, concise, complete and write for a broad
audience. - Funding request the grant amount you are
requesting and what match you are providing. Your
funding request should be based on your cost
estimate. - NOVA and RTP have additional tabs that ask
questions about the type of trail, miles, and
other details. - Questions
- Permits
- Attachments
- Maps location and service area
- Plans site plans and parcel maps
- Application resolution local agencies and
nonprofits - Authorization memorandum state and federal
agencies - Cultural Resource Forms (EZ Forms)
- Environmental Clearance (NOVA, RTP)

Worksite Level Tabs
- At the worksite level, youll describe the
worksite clearly, detail the goals for that site,
and answer questions. - For acquisition projects, a cost estimate tab is
at the property level tabs. - Your cost estimate should
- Split rather than lump costs.
- Take inflation into account.
- Include descriptions for all costs.
