2Trends of today sportswear
- Warmth and protection Fabrics been designed to
heat balance between body and surroundings. In
protection, stain resistance, wind protection has
also seen some interesting developments. - Well-being Well-being is a key trend in the
fabric market, and is important as a way of
adding value to standard products. Fabrics that
benefit the skin are important, but there are
also developments designed to help medically as
well. - Soft shell Soft shell developments have been
strong in the active market for a few seasons
now, but the latest developments are proving that
the trend is fast becoming an industry standard
and, in many cases, a necessity, rather than just
an interesting trend - Smart textiles The growth in electronic
textiles, or smart textiles, has enabled it to
become a strong trend in activewear, and one that
is likely to keep growing. Innovations in
lighting and entertainment will drive trends in
the market for high-end products with added
technological qualities.
3The important of heat management to running
- 25 body energy goes moving muscle 75 uses to
regulate heat. - Body temp ? appx 20?C when running.
- Body consume energy to cool things down when it
is heated. - Garment delivers the benefit of sweating w/o you
losing any fluid - Over heat / Cooler skin temp ? have to spend
extra energy during the race.
4How temperature balance enhance performance
- Heats from high ? low temp. until thermal
equilibrium (body surroundings temp. are same)
is reached. - Body produces heat sweat ? emit up to 2
liters/hr when running. - Water conducts heat away from body 25 times
faster than air (dangerous in cold temp).
5Layers and fabrication
- Fabric maximize insulation ? maintain warming
properties with sweat or rain. - Synthetics ? good to wick the moisture away.
- Outer layers keep out the wind rain, but may
affect ventilation. - Minimize layers ? choose fabrics offer both
wicking warming properties.
6Tips for each layer during running
- 1st Layer lightweight, moisture-wicking fabrics
? hold only a tiny of their weight in moisture. - Microfiber ? hold less than 1
- 2nd Layer layer delivers maximum warmth with
minimum bulk to trap the warmth your muscles
generate. - Synthetic fiber ? staying drier than natural
fiber - 3rd Layer (Outer layer) layer for blocking the
elements (rain, snow wind) w/o trapping too
much heat moisture underneath. - Fabric with special treatment ? waterproof
breathable
7Reeboks technology in running apparel
- Playdry
- Body Mapping
- Design
- Antimicrobial
8What is PlayDry? PlayDry is Reeboks trademark
for fabrics that possess moisture management
properties. Moisture management is the ability
of a fabric to move moisture or sweat away from
the body for rapid evaporation to keep the wearer
(player) as dry and comfortable as possible.
PlayDry materials are usually the next to skin
layer. This properties are applied to most
Performance sportswear in Reebok.
9How is Moisture Management Achieved in PlayDry
fabrics? Moisture management should always be
achieved mechanically through fabric construction
but as needed may also be enhanced by adding
chemical moisture management finishes to a
fabric.
10Body mapping
By defining areas with low and high sweat
production , product design was able to map
different clothing materials and design features
to specific body areas to increase breathability
and improve the airflow across the body.

11Design
Styling simple but functional Coloring Sharp
, colorful , attractive and reflective. Fabric
Light weight with technology.
12Antimicrobial treatment
- Chemical finishing which long lasting bond in the
fabric - restrain the activity of the bacteria and prevent
the bacteria from procreating. Then it destroys
the bacteria and achieve the effect of anti
bacteria and odor prevention - Widely used in lining, bedding, underwear, etc
