Why Advisors?
  • I believe the primary benefit of satellite
advising is to offer students another venue in
which to seek out advising services. It raises
awareness about the importance of academic
advising when students make difficult or timely
decisions. It also encourages students to utilize
and refer our services in the future, either by
visiting our satellite location or main office.
Quality advising has been linked to improved
retention rates and better navigation of the
resources and services available on campus.

General Curriculum
  • Typically, I provide a referral service for
students to an appropriate major advisor or
department on campus. Because each college and
major has their own set of specific requirements,
I do not provide course scheduling services for
    students. Students frequently have questions
    about pre-professional interests (like
pre-medicine, pre-law, etc.). During the spring
semester, I saw a similar number of declared and
    undeclared students.
