25Test Delivery WorkstationsLocal Installation
Local TestNav Installation
- Download and Install TestNav on each workstation
used for Test Delivery - Information on TestNav installation can be found
in the Infrastructure Guidelines - When Proctor Caching, you will also need to
configure each machine to communicate with the
Proctor Caching server (proxy settings.properties
file) - You can specify the Proctor Caching server during
TestNav installation
25
26Test Delivery Server Installation
Server TestNav Installation
Server
Workstations
- Download and Install TestNav on a server
- When Proctor Caching, you will also need to
configure the server installation to communicate
with the Proctor Caching server (proxy
settings.properties file) - Create a shortcut to the server installation of
TestNav on each workstation used for Test Delivery
26
27Proctor Caching Configuration

WAN
ISP
- A caching solution is recommended and runs on
both Windows and Mac OS X - It does not require an underlying server-based
operating system - It reduces burden on ISP by storing a local
encrypted copy of cached tests - TestNav must be configured (proxysettings.properti
es file) to communicate through Proctor Caching - If there is an upstream proxy server, Proctor
Caching will need to be configured to communicate
through that device.
27
28Best Practices for Technology Setup
- Technology Planning
- Meet with technology staff to plan requirements
- Schedule campus technology support during online
administration - Help technology staff locate and use training
materials - TestNav Installation
- Specify valid primary and secondary save
locations - Perform a dry run using administrator and student
level access - Verify setup for all computers before
administration - Server and desktop setup
- Install and use proctor caching
- Verify bandwidth requirements with projected
student count - Disable products that freeze desktop settings
- Turnoff background programs that may interfere
with TestNav
