- This presentation has information about available
positions for next years ELP leadership team - Check out whats listed here and see what sounds
interesting to you - We also STRONGLY encourage you to contact any of
the current program leaders if you have questions
about what these roles are like, how much time
they take, etc. - Please consider applying! This program could
benefit from your skills and ideas!
3Student Director
- Manage student leadership team
- Develop and coach student leadership team
- Program development
- Strategic planning and implementation
- Approximately 20 hour a week time commitment
during the school year - Requires ability and time to communicate over the
summer. Close proximity to Ames during the
summer preferred, but not required
4Senior Associate Director
- Aid student director in strategic planning and
implementation - Develop and coach student leadership team
- Program development
- Organize and run staff meetings
- Approximately 10-15 hour a week time commitment
during the school year - Requires ability and time to communicate over the
summer. Close proximity to Ames during the
summer preferred, but not required
5Associate Director for Year 1
- Plan and facilitate ENGR 150X, retreats, and
other group activities with Program and Student
Directors - Develop and coach ENGR 150X TAs
- Coordinate student journal meetings
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Year-long commitment required
6Associate Director(s)
- We will have several associate directors, who
will share many responsibilities - Attend weekly staff meetings
- Handle multiple projects that further the goals
of the program. Potential project areas are - Plan and facilitate seminars, retreats, and other
group activities - Meet with students to discuss Leadership Learning
Experiences, Leadership Learning Projects, and
e-Docs multiple times every semester - Mentor project managers to ensure project, task,
and event success - Help plan strategic initiatives of the program
7Peer Mentor Program Manager
- Recruit and train Peer Mentors
- Facilitate Peer Mentor pairing
- Aid Peer Mentors and mentees in developing strong
relationships - Monitor Peer Mentor relationships
- Develop and facilitate evaluations for the Peer
Mentor Program - Develop initiative, communication, and planning
competencies - This is a year-long commitment
8Faculty Mentor Program Manager
- Recruit and train Faculty Mentors
- Facilitate Faculty Mentor Pairing
- Aid Faculty Mentors and mentees in developing
strong relationships - Monitor Faculty Mentor relationships
- Develop and facilitate evaluations for the
Faculty Mentor Program - Develop initiative, communication, and planning
competencies - This is a fall semester commitment
9Social Chair
- Build the ELP community by planning events for
all ELP scholars - Coordinate at least 3 events each semester, with
1 of those events focusing on service to the
community - Consider creative ways to keep the events as
low-cost as possible
10Evaluations Coordinator
- Facilitate student self assessments
- Facilitate competency assessments
- Administer Evaluations
- Facilitate Evaluation Reviews
- Develop a sustainable method for storing
evaluation results - Formally report evaluation results
- Develop analysis judgment, communication, and
quality orientation competencies - Year-long commitment preferred
11Service Learning Project Assistant
- Serve as a passive resource to the Scholars
throughout their SLP - Plan Gate Review schedule
- Plan non-SLP related spring seminars
- Guide the SLP team through the DMAIC Process
- Report SLP progress to the ELP leadership team
- This is a spring semester commitment
12Networking Coordinators
- Teach the scholars the importance and the
mechanics of networking - Aid in the planning and facilitation of VIP Guest
visits - Facilitate prep sessions for all networking
events - Plan and facilitate all Dinner Discussion
events - Develop planning, professional impact, and
communication competencies - Year-long commitment preferred
13Curriculum Development
- Provide input on course development ventures
- Seek opportunities for partnership across
disciplines - Develop informal learning opportunities for
students across the university - Evaluate newly developed courses and implement
improvements - Year-long commitment preferred
14Year 2 Cohort Representative
- Plan and facilitate regular feedback forums
- Report feedback to the Associate Director of Year
2 Cohort and the Leadership Team - Develop communication competency
- This is a year-long commitment
15Applications Manager
- Develop the 2009-2010 application timeline and
process - Facilitate the selection of the 2010 Scholars
- Work with the Public Relations Manager to assure
a large and diverse applicant pool - Develop communication, analysis judgement, and
initiative competencies - Year-long commitment preferred (starting
mid-fall)
16Public Relations Manager
- Create promotional material and advertisements
for the ELP - Develop an outreach plan to publicize the program
- Work with Engineering Outreach to broaden the
diversity of the applicant pool - Develop promotional material for ELP resources
and activities that are open to all students - Develop innovation (creativity) competencies
- Year-long commitment preferred
17ENGR 150X TA
- Aid in the development of ENGR 150X activities
- Aid in facilitating ENGR 150X activities
- Review freshman scholar reflections and provide
feedback via journal meetings - Develop innovative reflection formats and
activities - Develop communication, coaching, developing
others competencies - This is a fall semester commitment
18Retreat Coordinator(s)
- Need 1-3 people for this role
- Plan objectives, activities, and logistics for
the class retreats - Facilitate the retreats
- Develop Lessons Learned for the retreats
- Develop and facilitate evaluation for the
retreats with the Evaluations Coordinator - Develop planning and communication competencies
- Summer and fall commitment
19Today in ELP Cohort Rep
- Participate on writing/editing team of
bi-semesterly ELP newsletter - Write articles and features on the events
happening within your cohort in scholars lives
in or outside of ELP - Develop written communication competency
- Year-long commitment preferred
20Technology Coordinators
- Help with a variety of technology projects, which
may include - Manage and update the ELP website
- Provide support for the online application
systems - Provide support and training for the e-Doc
portfolio system - Lead the development of the online community for
ISU students, which is currently beginning - Develop customer focus, innovation, and quality
orientation competencies - Year-long commitment preferred
21Committee on Lectures Rep
- Represent the ELP and the College of Engineering
at the ISU Committee on Lectures - Attend and participate in their weekly meetings
- Promote relevant lectures to the ELP
- Develop communication competency
- Year-long commitment preferred
22Summer ELP Rep
- Provide support for the program over the summer
- Meet with incoming scholars and parents during
June orientation - Represent ELP at events such as Engineering
Beyond - Develop communication, customer focus, and
planning competency - Paid position for the duration of the summer
