• Investigating
• A Search Discovery group is formed
• Explores the concepts and implications of renewal
  for their church through prayer, study sharing
• Shares its findings with the entire church and
  may recommend that the church begin the Church
  Renewal Journey by scheduling a Lay Renewal
  Week-end

Phases of the Journey

• Initiating
• The Lay Renewal Week-end takes 3 - 6 months to
  plan and implement - a general chairperson 13
  groups are needed
• A lay coordinator and a lay team travels to the
  church at their own expense - housing and meals
  are provided for the team by the local church
• Team members share as the week-end becomes a call
  to personal renewal and an inward journey with
  Christ as individuals and as a church

• Sharing
• The emphasis continues to be on a journey inward
  as the spiritual aspects of life in Christ are
  explored and tested within small groups organized
  by the Spiritual Growth group
• Materials for small group studies are available
  as recommended by your consultant
• Time is set aside for regular reporting of these
  groups to the church body

• Commissioning
• The Lay Ministry Week-end is similar in
  format to the LRW with the addition of a Bible
  Study leader to teach biblical concepts of
  Spiritual Gifts, personal ministry, evangelism
  discipleship - i.e. Journey Outward
• The week-end is centered on the doctrine that all
  Christians are called, gifted, equipped and sent
  into the world for witness and ministry

• Penetrating
• Continues the journey outward
• Small group life is renewed and training
  offered for those who need additional
  help to discover their gift and / or ministry
• Gifts and ministries are confirmed and affirmed
  as they are used. Reporting in to the entire
  church become increasingly important
• The Search Discovery group continues to look
  for ways to awaken, equip and train the people to
  discover and use their gifts
