Vision of the clinic
  • This clinic offers services

    francophone students living in a minority setting

    care and community-based rehabilitation services
    for the francophone community at the regional,
    provincial and national level

First clients of the clinic for the period
2006-2008
  • School-aged children (5) with mild impairments
    limiting their participation in their home and
    school environment
  • Adults 50 with physical deficits limiting their
    participation in their life habits
  • Caregivers working with these two populations

Types of programs
  • Functional screening in the community (hearing,
    language, mobility, functional autonomy) for
    adults 50 and school-aged children(5).
  • Maintenance of the individuals quality life
    during transitional periods
  • Hospital to community care access centre (CCAC),
  • Hospital to long term care facilities
  • Rehabilitation center to returning home
  • through various rehabilitation interventions
    (wheel chair adjustments, prescription of
    assistive devices facilitating communication and
    independence, fall prevention, physical
    reconditioning after an hospitalization,
    reintegration of significant activities).
  • French language training sessions for caregivers(
    family members or personal attendants) on
    strategies to better communicate with the care
    recipient, to prevent injuries while completing
    transfers and personal care, to prevent burnout
    or to administer medication.
  • Support for parents to help them carry out home
    programs provided by the school health care
    professional.

  • You may be eligible to receive services from the
    clinic if your understanding of the French
    language is adequate enabling you to receive the

Participation of the students
  • Services offered by the clinic will be provided
    by students under the supervision of a licensed
    preceptor. Preceptors will occasionally provided
    services directly to the client if the student is
    unable to do so thereby providing a valuable
    learning opportunity for students in the early
    stages of training.
  • All services will be provided using an
    interprofessional collaborative approach that
    enhances the ability
  • of students to provide patient-centered care.
  • Clinical placements offered by the clinic are
    attributed to the students by the coordinators of
    the clinical education of their respective
    programs of study.

Participation of the professors
  • Certain course work within a community health
    course could be completed in collaboration with
    the clinic.
  • Research projects on the interprofessional
    collaboration centered on the client will emanate
    from the activities of the clinic.
  • Moreover, the clinic will participate, whenever
    appropriate , in the research initiatives
    emanating from the professors, in the field of
    the rehabilitation and the interprofessional
    education.
  • The participation of each professor is to be
    defined, according to his/her research and
