Potential Building Proposition Introductory
Overview

Guiding Questions
  • As the District thinks about a building project
    we consider the following questions
  • What types of facilities will aid in student
    learning?
  • What options do we have for creating those
    facilities?
  • What process will enable the District to select
an option for a possible proposition?

3
Sources of Information
  • Finishing the Job A Facilities Improvement Plan
created after the 1999 project addressing items
not completed in the project (01/05)
  • Athletic Field Study Report The Field Study
Report evaluated recommendations made by the
Scotia Glenville Field Study Committee and
offered comments regarding the feasibility of the
    recommendations (10/05)
  • Five Year Capital Facilities Plan Items in the
plan, completed by the Director of Buildings and
Grounds, are prioritized Year One to Year Five
and were cross-referenced with the Building

years, includes deficiencies in buildings and
    site work (12/06)

Excel Projects
  • Excel Aid can be used for the following types of
projects which have as their primary purpose
  • Educational Technology enhancing the use of
    technology in instruction
  • Health and Safety reducing or eliminating the
risk of personal injury or harm to occupants of
school buildings by addressing fire and health
    code violations, heating, ventilation, air
    conditioning, rehabilitation or repair of
    existing facilities
  • Accessibility enhancing accessibility to public
    school buildings for individuals with
    disabilities
  • Physical capacity expansion on school
    construction expanding the availability of
    adequate and appropriate instructional space
  • Energy reducing energy costs and/or energy
    consumption

5
About Excel Aid
  • Funds may be used with building aid, but can not
    exceed the total project cost
  • Excel can be used in lieu of building aid
  • Excel aid can be applied to the difference
between approved project cost so that it is
possible in some instances for there to be no
    local share
  • Must be reviewed and approved by SED Facilities
    Planning as an Excel project
