4Philosophy of Teaching
I believe all children have the ability to learn.
It is my job as a teacher to facilitate this by
providing a classroom that is developmentally
appropriate, age appropriate, and culturally
appropriate
As a teacher you set the climate and pace of your
classroom. The power rests in your hands to set
expectations, and goals. You can either humanize
or dehumanize the children in your classroom.
5Woodcock Elementary
- I completed my internship at Woodcock Elementary.
- I was a teachers aide in a second grade
classroom with cooperating teacher Jennifer
Vieira.
6Classroom Library
Miss Vieira has a levelized classroom library
that was pretty impressive to me. The children
also have individualized book boxes.
7Balanced Literacy
- Everyday in the classroom was a new experience.
Reading is implemented throughout the day.
Individual reading, shared reading, guided
reading, and read-alouds are all incorporated
into the childrens school days.
8Balanced Literacy
Modeled writing, journal writing, and guided
writing are also important parts of the
childrens balanced literacy

10Literacy Centers
Literacy centers played a big part in the
classroom. I like literacy centers because they
are fun, creative ways that children learn. Miss
Vieira had several literacy centers in her
classroom.
