Title: St' Pauls Shipwreck
1St. Pauls Shipwreck
He was first arrested because he was preaching
the word of God, and was sent to prison in
Caesarea.
Under trial it was found he didnt deserve death
or imprisonment, but as he had appealed to
Caesar, the Roman Emperor, he had to go to Rome.
2On the ship bound to Rome, there was also his
friend Luke.
Whilst sailing they came across a big storm which
threatened to sink the ship.
The prisoners and soldiers on board were
frightened but Paul tried to calm them, knowing
that God had promised him that no one would be
hurt.
3They saw an island.
4The ship hit a sandbar, a rock under the water
and got stuck. The soldiers wanted to kill the
prisoners for fear that they would escape, but
the centurion wanted to save Paul so he didnt
let this happen. He ordered everyone to try and
save himself by trying to swim to the shore and
holding to pieces of floating wood.
They all made it to the shore, safe and sound.
5Once safely on shore, we found out that the
island was called Malta.
Acts 28,1
6The people of the island were very generous and
welcoming and they set up a warm fire to keep
those who had made it to the shore warm.
Paul was throwing pieces of wood at the fire,
when a viper, escaping from the heat, bit him in
the hand
Seeing this, the islanders said to one another,
"This man must be a murderer for though he
escaped from the sea, Justice has not allowed him
to live." But Paul shook the snake off and wasnt
harmed.
The people expected him to swell up and suddenly
fall dead, but nothing happened to him. Seeing
this they began to say that he was a god.
7During his stay in Malta, Paul cured the father
of Publius, chief official of the island, and
also the sick who came to him. He also preached
the word about Jesus Christ and the Word of God.
That is how the Maltese were converted to
Christianity
