Founded by Harriet Royce leader in advocating
for people with learning differences Junior
League funded a pilot LD program at Jacob G.
Smith School and a clinic located in Christ
Church The clinic became Royce Learning Center in
1970

1970-1994 Program moved from site to site based
on budget/ availability 1994 Purchased current
site 2001 Retired 400,000 mortgage 2005
Received 1,600,000 SPLOST Grant 2005-6 Created

low-wage work, it makes it tougher to convince
employers to bring better jobs here.
Its impact on Savannah is similar to that of a
neutron bomb explosion it spares the natural
surroundings, but it kills the future
It hardens the communitys poverty rate
