• Didnt kill all Native Britians but did destroy
  their language
• Existing settlements were not destroyed, but
  Saxons found names hard to pronounce
• Renamed people in their own language

Mens Clothing

• Typical attire short cloak or cape made of fur
  (usually sheep)
• wore trousers fastened to waist with a belt
• Most men wore tunics
• Fetels, leather pouches, were worn by men to
  carry firestarting materials.

Womens Clothing

• Basic clothing Peplos dress (tubular garment
  clasped at the shoulders
• Hair was usually long in pony tails
• They wore an under dress
• Lots of jewelry.

Braid Weaving

• This type of braid was considered a very high
  status
• Usually only people of high stature had any
  weaved items
• The tablets which connected each end of the weave
  piece was usually made of bone or wood

Mens Ceremonial Clothing

• A loincloth or breeches under tight leggings
• Wore short tunic cinched with a leather belt
• Wore tall pointed cap with the point bent over
• Flat soled ankle height boots were also standard
  for men

Womens Ceremonial Clothing

• Wore long woolen gowns fastened together at the
  shoulders by paired broaches, with lots of colors
• Wore their hair plaited
• Shoes did not change for ceremonial purposes,
  flat soled ankle height boots were standard for
  all occasions

• Had heavy shirts made of metal links
• 20,000 links were used by overlapping metal rings
• Worn over a padded tunic
• Regular pants worn- with metal leg protectors
