• The downriver is more polluted (Especially
  Nitrates and Phosphates).
• its where there is the most of the
  population.
• A lot of fish farming, industries and
  agricultural activities in the middle of the
  Basin.
• down this area, we find the more polluted
  villages.

• For all these origins of pollution, the water
  deterioration is increasing for the 10 last years.

Steps to be take against the pollution

• The Objectives
• They have been decided as part of the plan
  Bretagne Eau Pure 2, signed in 1998 by the
  State, locals collectivities, House of
  Agriculture and Associations, in order to resolve
  the problems about water.
• The plan program is built around 5 pillars
• Planning of space (hedges, embankments, cleaning
  the banks)
• Collectivities (reduce the weed killer using)
• Purification (build and improve the sewage
  treatment plant)
• Industries and fish farming (specifics sewage
  treatment plant, and to increase the salmon
  population)
• Agriculture (to reduce certain pollution, modify
  the agricultural practices with collectives and
  individuals actions)

• The Actors
• The State ? financial role
• The Scorff syndicate ? to gate the Basin villages
  together
• The Water Agency ? organization which is
  depending to the State
• Scorff syndicate and Water A. have role of public
  funding, and also a role of decision maker about
  the objectives and the steps to take.
• Locals associations ? are militating in favour of
  water quality
• They put pressure on the decisions makers, but
  they cant neither take decision nor take charge
  oh the management.

• The fish farming 2 of the 3 are producing 4
  times more than the production which is
  permitting.
• They are responsible for the
  physical-chemical pollutions and for the
  disruption of the fish populations.
• Thats why the associations put pressure on
  these fish farming in order to
• ? they respect the allowed
  production
• ? they cant make extensions

  practices which are less harmful for the
  environment (for a sustainable agriculture).

Conclusion

• For more 10 years, the projects want to
  reduce the Scorff pollution. Even so, the
  pollution is not slowing down.
• We have to continue with these actions
• For the Human health
• For the biodiversity
• Each of us, all the public, have to become
  conscious, that we have to be in the habit of
  doing thinking and acting differently.
