2Observe the Oyster There once was an oyster,
whose story Ill tellWho found that some sand
got into his shell.Just one little grain, but it
gave him a pain,For oysters have feelings,
although theyre so plain. Now, did he berate
the workings of fateThat brought him to such a
deplorable state?Did he curse the government?
Call for an election?Or cry that the sea should
be given protection? No, he said to himself,
as he lay on the shelf,Since I cannot remove
it, Ill try to improve it.The years rolled by,
as years always do,And he came to his ultimate
destiny . . . Stew. And the small grain of sand
that bothered him soWas a beautiful pearl, all
richly aglow. Now, this tale has a moral for
isnt it grandWhat an oyster can do with a
morsel of sand. And,What couldnt WE do, if
wed only beginImproving the things that get
under our skin?

8Preparing for Placement
- Expectations for the February placement.
- Remember the following
- Refine your expectations to specifically reflect
what you are teaching. - Under Pre-assessment of Learners detail the
modifications and accommodations for your special
needs learners. Organize your Resources so that
you have everything ready for your students. - Know your Content! Research the information that
you will be teaching the students. Use one of the
visual organizers to help you plan the lesson.
Can you use one in your lesson? - Make sure your Teaching/Learning Strategies are
well detailed. Plan your Educative Higher Order
Questions in your lesson plans. Remember they
must be clear enough for someone else to pick
them up and use them to teach the class. - Ensure that you have a Consolidation of Learning
for all types of lesson plans. Remember that for
the General, it happens once - after you finish
teaching but before the students practice or
apply the new learning (application). - Your Assessment must directly relate back to your
expectations. You are assessing the expectations
that you said you would teach. - Have a great time with your students! Youll be
great!
