- Because city is developing, then the rubbish

- convenient) .That affected the animals in the
- river, that will be died by this construction
- rubbish and also destroy the food chain,
- break the ecological environment, etc.

- One objective for new town development was to
alleviate the problem of congestion in the old
urban areas of Kowloon and the northern shore of
Hong Kong Island by decentralizing the population

habitat formerly located at lam tsuen river
estuary was removed in the early 1979 .Drainage

- After visiting Lam Tsuen River ,we found that Lam
Tsuen River is very dirty, we look down to the
river, we found that there is just a little fish
there, but compare with Sing Mum River , Lam
Tsuen River just have a few fishes,also Lam Tsuen
Rivers water quality is bad too, there has some
eutrophication over there ,and the smell is very
bad ,also it attract housefly ,the conclusion of
our group is Lam Tsuen River is very dirty and
its no suitable for residential buildings build
up near by.

- Ting kok mangrove was designated as a site of
special scientific interest (sssi) in
March1985.the designated site covers an area of
about 37.5 ha . Five species of mangrove can be
found there.
