  • Luke 101-9 (NKJ)
  • 1 After these things the Lord appointed seventy
others also, and sent them two by two before His
face into every city and place where He Himself
    was about to go.
  • 2 Then He said to them, "The harvest truly is
great, but the laborers are few therefore pray
the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into
    His harvest.

3
3 "Go your way behold, I send you out as lambs
among wolves. 4 "Carry neither money bag,
knap-sack, nor sandals and greet no one along
the road. 5 "But whatever house you enter, first
say, Peace to this house.' 6 "And if a son of
peace is there, your peace will rest on it if
not, it will return to you.
2 Then He said to them, "The harvest truly is
great, but the laborers are few therefore pray
the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into
His harvest.
4
7 "And remain in the same house, eating and
drinking such things as they give, for the
laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from
house to house. 8 "Whatever city you enter, and
they receive you, eat such things as are set
before you. 9 "And heal the sick there, and say
to them, The kingdom of God has come near to
you.'

  • One of the greatest challenges set before the
    church in this hour . . .

Reaching our cities for Christ!
6
Our World is Fast Becoming a City!
  • In the 1800s only 5 of the worlds population
    lived in cities
  • In the 1900s that proportion grew to 51
  • By the year 2000 over 70 of the worlds
    population were metropoli-tan dwellers

7
  • In 1950 Africa had 2 cities of a million or more.
  • Today Africa has 37 such cities!
  • As a pastor with a heart for the city, the
question I ask is this what is the key to the
    incredible metropoli-tan harvest before us?

8
Jesus appointed 70 and sent them into every city
and place where He Himself was about to visit.
  • After He imparted the vision of harvest, notice
    where he sent them

Vs. 5 and into whatsoever house ye enter, first
say, Peace be to this house.
9
HOME
  • The place where life
  • makes up its mind!

10
THE HARVEST IS IN THE HOUSE!
11
  • In dealing with the incredible people explosion
that is taking place in our city, the Spirit of
the Lord has directed our church to take the
message of peace and hope to the home through
    cell group ministry.

12
  • Ac. 246 And they continuing daily with one
accord in the temple, and breaking bread from
house to house, did eat their meat with gladness
    and singleness of heart.
  • Vs. 47b And the Lord added to the church daily
    such as should be saved.

13
HOW TO INFLUENCE INDIVIDUALS FOR CHRIST
  • 1 IDENTIFY THE FELT NEED
  • OF THE FAMILY

14
  • Felt Need the need a person feels is the most
    important at any particular time.
  • Examples joblessness, disease, single
    parenthood, marital stress, family relationships.

15
  • 2 INNOVATIVE IDEAS TO MOBILIZE THE CELL
    MEMBERS IN ONE-ON-ONE EVANGELISM
  • In the cell church this begins by building
relationships with the unsaved family member.

16
3 INTENSIVE FOLLOW-UP
  • We have a system whereby we send a pastor, the
same Sunday afternoon of their salvation
experience that morning, to visit with them in
    their home.
  • All other family members who happen to be there
are invited to listen as Christ is presented and
    explanation is given.

17
4 INTERNSHIP
We place great emphasis on leadership, not just
member-ship.
When seeking an Intern, use the F.A.S.T. Formula
18
  • Have they been Faithful?

Are they Above reproach?
  • Are they Submissive?
  • Do they portray a Teach-able spirit?
