My Socioeconomic Heritage and Family Background

• My father is a farmer, his father is a farmer,
  and his father was a farmer. There have been many
  generations of farmers on my fathers side of the
  family.
• My mother works for the school board of Laurens
  County.
• We are in the Middle Class Society.
• We have lived in a rural area since I was born.
  The country is where I grew up.

• I was on the track team for 5 years running
  sprints and throwing discus and shot put.
• I played in the band in Middle School and High
  School
• My High School was 65 Caucasian and 35 African
  American

Experiences

• I have never encountered an experience with a
  person who I knew was openly gay or who was a
  lesbian until I went to college. Even then I had
  no idea that the person was gay. I can say that I
  dont agree with being gay or a lesbian but I try
  not to discriminate against the people who are.
  My motto is hate the sin not the sinner.

My Gender Traits

• I sometimes get mistaken for a guy on the phone
  because I have a low voice.
• I am an athlete and I lift heavy weights which
  makes my muscles more tone.
• I have more speed than most white girls.

Influences on Me

• Parents are strong in their beliefs in the Bible
  which has greatly influenced me.
• Church has been my haven.
• Beliefs in the Bible and the way my parents
  raised me plays a major factor in how I see
  myself and how I think others see me.
• Everything above makes me who I am

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

• I see myself as a Christian who has a very heavy
  country accent, enjoys sports and outdoor
  activity, and who loves being around people and
  animals.
• I mostly look for the good in people. I dont
  have a problem talking to anybody and I really
  try not to discriminate and judgeeven though I
  do sometimes.
• I think others see me as a dumb redneck country
  girl who can talk their ears off. I also think
  people see me as spoiled but I think that they
  think I have a good personality.

Am I Ready for the Real World?

• I think that my accent might get in the way of
  teaching people from diverse backgrounds.
• I dont think that I know enough about minority
  students yet to teach in front of them
• I think that my trips to France, Mexico, Jamaica,
  Bahamas, Canada, and 35 of the 50 states would
  benefit my teaching of diverse students.
