Todays Spiritual Myth
  • Once Saved, Always Saved
  •

2
How can supposedly Godly people live like hell
and think theyll end up in heaven? Surely,
getting saved doesn't mean you cant get unsaved.
Some people dont deserve to be saved.

  • Rom 610 The death he died, he died to sin once
for all but the life he lives, he lives to God.
  • Heb 727 Unlike the other high priests, he does
not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first
for his own sins, and then for the sins of the
people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all
    when he offered himself.
  • Heb 912 He did not enter by means of the blood
of goats and calves but he entered the Most Holy
Place once for all by his own blood, having
    obtained eternal redemption.

  • Heb 926 Then Christ would have had to suffer
many times since the creation of the world. But
now he has appeared once for all at the end of
the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of
    himself.
  • Heb 1010 And by that will, we have been made
holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus
    Christ once for all.
  • 1 Pet 318 For Christ died for sins once for all,
the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you
to God. He was put to death in the body but made
    alive by the Spirit,

Argument
Ro 61-4 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on
sinning so that grace may increase? By no means!
We died to sin how can we live in it any longer?
Or dont you know that all of us who were
baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his
death? We were therefore buried with him through
baptism into death in order that, just as Christ
was raised from the dead through the glory of the
Father, we too may live a new life.

Argument
Mt 2531-261 When the Son of Man comes in his
glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit
on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations
will be gathered before him, and he will separate
the people one from another as a shepherd
separates the sheep from the goats. He will put
the sheep on his right and the goats on his
left. Then the King will say to those on his
right,
11
Argument
Come, you who are blessed by my Father take
your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you
since the creation of the world. For I was hungry
and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty
and you gave me something to drink, I was a
stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes
and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked
after me, I was in prison and you came to visit
me.
12
Argument
Then the righteous will answer him, Lord, when
did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty
and give you something to drink? When did we see
you a stranger and invite you in, or needing
clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick
or in prison and go to visit you? The King will
reply, I tell you the truth, whatever you did
for one of the least of these brothers of mine,
you did for me.
13
Argument
Then he will say to those on his left, Depart
from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal
fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I
was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was
thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a
stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed
clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and
in prison and you did not look after me.
14
Argument
They also will answer, Lord, when did we see
you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing
clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help
you? He will reply, I tell you the truth,
whatever you did not do for one of the least of
these, you did not do for me. Then they will go
away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to
eternal life.

Argument
Jn 1025-30 Jesus answered, I did tell you, but
you do not believe. The miracles I do in my
Fathers name speak for me, but you do not
believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep
listen to my voice I know them, and they follow
me. I give them eternal life, and they shall
never perish no one can snatch them out of my
hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is
greater than all?c? no one can snatch them out
of my Fathers hand. I and the Father are one.

Case Study The life of Peter
Mt 2631-35 Then Jesus told them, This very
night you will all fall away on account of me,
for it is written I will strike the shepherd,
and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.
But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you
into Galilee. Peter replied, Even if all fall
away on account of you, I never will. I tell
you the truth, Jesus answered, this very night,
before the rooster crows, you will disown me
three times. But Peter declared, Even if I have
to die with you, I will never disown you. And
all the other disciples said the same.

Case Study The life of Peter
Mt 2647-54 While he was still speaking, Judas,
one of the Twelve, arrived. With him was a large
crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the
chief priests and the elders of the people. Now
the betrayer had arranged a signal with them
The one I kiss is the man arrest him. Going at
once to Jesus, Judas said, Greetings, Rabbi!
and kissed him. Jesus replied, Friend, do what
you came for.?
20
Case Study The life of Peter
Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and
arrested him. With that, one of Jesus companions
reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the
servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
Put your sword back in its place, Jesus said to
him, for all who draw the sword will die by the
sword. Do you think I cannot call on my Father,
and he will at once put at my disposal more than
twelve legions of angels? But how then would the
Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen
in this way?
21
Case Study The life of Peter
Mt 2669-271 Now Peter was sitting out in the
courtyard, and a servant girl came to him. You
also were with Jesus of Galilee, she said. But
he denied it before them all. I dont know what
youre talking about, he said. Then he went out
to the gateway, where another girl saw him and
said to the people there, This fellow was with
Jesus of Nazareth. He denied it again, with an
oath I dont know the man!
22
Case Study The life of Peter
After a little while, those standing there went
up to Peter and said, Surely you are one of
them, for your accent gives you away. Then he
began to call down curses on himself and he swore
to them, I dont know the man! Immediately a
rooster crowed. Then Peter remembered the word
Jesus had spoken Before the rooster crows, you
will disown me three times. And he went outside
and wept bitterly.
23
Case Study The life of Peter
Jn 211-25 Afterward Jesus appeared again to his
disciples, by the Sea of Tiberias.?? It happened
this way Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus),
Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of
Zebedee, and two other disciples were together.
Im going out to fish, Simon Peter told them,
and they said, Well go with you. So they went
out and got into the boat, but that night they
caught nothing. Early in the morning, Jesus stood
on the shore, but the disciples did not realize
that it was Jesus.
24
Case Study The life of Peter
He called out to them, Friends, havent you any
fish? No, they answered. He said, Throw your
net on the right side of the boat and you will
find some. When they did, they were unable to
haul the net in because of the large number of
fish. Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to
Peter, It is the Lord! As soon as Simon Peter
heard him say, It is the Lord, he wrapped his
outer garment around him (for he had taken it
off) and jumped into the water. The other
disciples followed in the boat, towing the net
full of fish, for they were not far from shore,
about a hundred yards.?
25
Case Study The life of Peter
When they landed, they saw a fire of burning
coals there with fish on it, and some bread.
Jesus said to them, Bring some of the fish you
have just caught. Simon Peter climbed aboard and
dragged the net ashore. It was full of large
fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not
torn. Jesus said to them, Come and have
breakfast. None of the disciples dared ask him,
Who are you? They knew it was the Lord. Jesus
came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did
the same with the fish.
26
Case Study The life of Peter
This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his
disciples after he was raised from the dead. When
they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon
Peter, Simon son of John, do you truly love me
more than these? Yes, Lord, he said, you know
that I love you. Jesus said, Feed my lambs.
Again Jesus said, Simon son of John, do you
truly love me? He answered, Yes, Lord, you know
that I love you. Jesus said, Take care of my
sheep. The third time he said to him, Simon son
of John, do you love me? Peter was hurt because
Jesus asked him the third time, Do you love me?
27
Case Study The life of Peter
He said, Lord, you know all things you know
that I love you. Jesus said, Feed my sheep. I
tell you the truth, when you were younger you
dressed yourself and went where you wanted but
when you are old you will stretch out your hands,
and someone else will dress you and lead you
where you do not want to go. Jesus said this to
indicate the kind of death by which Peter would
glorify God. Then he said to him, Follow me!
Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus
loved was following them.
28
Case Study The life of Peter
(This was the one who had leaned back against
Jesus at the supper and had said, Lord, who is
going to betray you?) When Peter saw him, he
asked, Lord, what about him?Jesus answered, If
I want him to remain alive until I return, what
is that to you? You must follow me. Because of
this, the rumor spread among the brothers that
this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not
say that he would not die he only said, If I
want him to remain alive until I return, what is
that to you?
