Roller Coasters

• Roller coasters bring excitement to the
  world. Some coasters are unsafe. Some coasters
  are safe. There are different types of coasters.
  On some coasters your feet dangle.

L.A. Thompson

• L.A. Thompson made the first roller coaster
  in the United States. The roller coaster opened
  at Coney Island in New York. It opened in June
  in the year of 1884. L.A. Thompson built at
  least 20 switch back railways in the U.S. from
  1884-1888. He built a larger number of scenic
  railways beginning in 1887.

John A. Miller

• John A. Miller was a designer of toboggans
  before starting work at the Dayton beach fun
  house. Miller invented many safety devices used
  in todays roller coasters. Miller invented the
  chain dog. He also invented under friction
  wheels. Miller was called the Thomas Edison of
  roller coasters. Miller invented his first
  roller coaster with Norman Barlett. The ride was
  called the flying turns ride.

Harry Baker

• Harry Baker was Millers partner. Baker built
  the famous cyclone ride. The ride was built at
  Astroland Park in Coney Island. Baker invented
  several rides with Miller.
