R.E.A.D. Focuses on reading primarily to
Newborn Infants Young Children
5OVERALL GOALS OBJECTIVES
To establish the joy of reading early as a
value for every new mother and father To
teach parents reading techniques used for
infants and small children To provide babys
first book as a start towards a regular
reading program To emphasize the importance
of education and literacy in todays society
6THE MISSION
Make literacy promotion a standard part of
pediatric primary care Books will be given
to children at pediatric check-ups Special
focus on children growing up in poverty

Helps builds a relationship between medical

- The Library Foundation consists of 14 Board
members from our community who are committed
to raise funds to build a strong library system
for all Windsorites.

- 100 of the funds raised by our volunteers are
used to - Build new libraries
- Enhance existing facilities
- Develop literacy programs
- Provide computers
- Purchase books, CDs, videos and other
resource materials

To effectively address the literacy needs in
the City of Windsor To approach literacy from
an all-inclusive perspective from prenatal
to the elderly To ensure that individuals with
literacy needs have access to appropriate
services To provide a librarian for the project
