Overview
  • The targets.
  • Search method.
  • Status of the analysis.
  • General results.
  • Specific results for the Group B.
  • Problems and open questions.
  • Future investigations.

3
What are we looking for ?
While Kerttu is looking for compact objects, we
focus on the detection of

EXTENDED NEBULAE
Ionized (PNe,SNR,HII...etc.)
Diameter gt 20 arcsec
4
How do we find them ?
  • Creation and Visual inspection of 15x15 pixels
    binning mosaics.

?Parameters used to retrieve the mosaics
Size 2x2 deg² Ha-r Sky level lt 600 (in Ha)
Ellipticity lt 0.3 Seeing lt 2 Maglim gt
18 ? 15 pixels Best binning for large and faint
structures.
(Data stored in Cambridge)
Mosaic 194924
5
Mosaic 201238
6
What is the actual state of the search ?
  • 2nd half of the galactic plane completed.

All the extended structures between 18h and 00h
are listed.
4000 detections
Start of the cross-checking ! P. Groot, N.
Wright, R.Greimel and R.Morris (see talk)
7
What is the actual state of the search ?(2)
  • Further analysis of the region 18h to 20h.

Artefacts detection.

Classification.

See Antonio Mampasos talk for the recent
follow-up spectroscopy results !
23
Problems encountered
  • Detection of intermediate size objects
?5-20 need of 5pix binning see Brent
    Miszalski's talk
  • Detection of PNe inside HII regions.
  • Extended Nebulae are faint (PN?) gt 30mn with the
    INT (2.5m) gt few lines
  • ?To get deeper spectra gt Apply for more
efficient and adequate spectrograph (fibers) .

?For objects identification PN or not
PN ? gt Continue on same telescopes (with more
    time) !

24
Other item to discuss about
  • Need more people for the cross-check of the 15pix
binning mosaics!!!! gt easy way to look for the
    nebulae.

25
Future works
  • Completion of the database for the 15pix binning
visual search from RA20h to RA00h.
  • Start search for RA00H to RA7h.
  • Continue the Follow-up spectroscopy and imaging.
  • Edition of the catalogue from RA18h to RA20h.

26
In the next area to be investigated...

50 min H? , INT/WFC, IPHASX
J205012.6465517, ?350
27
Special Thanks
  • Jonathan Irwin for the help with the mosaics
  • Robert Greimel for the help with the database
