3COURSE DESCRIPTION

- This credit course with international (I)
designation will explore the agriculture, natural
resources, history, and culture of Thailand. - The students will gain insight on how Thailand
has become one of the worlds major food
producers, and looks set to keep its place into
the next millennium. - Opportunities will be provided for students to
experience first-hand the climate where plant and
animal life are the most diverse in South East
Asia and therefore able to grow tropical,
sub-tropical, and temperate lowland and lowland
crops for domestic consumption and export. - Since Thailand is the only Southeast Asian
country never to have been taken over by a
European power, students will be exposed to the
rich cultural, historical and religious
background of the country. - Students will be able to learn and compare Thai
and U.S. system of agricultural production and
gain knowledge on how Thai agriculture
contributes to the total Southeast Asia and world
agriculture. - Additionally, the students will be culturally and
internationally enriched by experiencing a blend
of culture, language, history, art, and religion.
