3Cryogenic Effort Is On-going within Three
Different Areas Support of Solenoid Move to
MTA Overall Refrigerator and Compressor
Complex Support of Continued Future Testing of
KEK and Forced Flow Absorber Work
4- Cryogenic Effort 1
- Support of Solenoid Move to MTA
- Mechanical effort underway
- Piping installed for helium and nitrogen vents
- Helium transfer line taken from Lab G and
modified to make more optimal use of helium - Working with Al Moretti to understand transfer
line positioning and - shielding requirements
5Electrical effort underway Layout of cable
runs, instrumentation on-going Implementing
Class 1, Division 2 requirements into
installation Relay rack installed and wired at
MTA Using PLC and Internet Rack Monitor ability
to monitor all solenoid cryogenics from ACNET

11 Present Status Completed Mechanical Piping
Drawing Mid-December 2004 Fermilab Contracts
sending out Bid Requests This Week Bids
Required Back by February 28th, 2005
12Bottom Line on Refrigerator Complex In March or
Early April we anticipate the beginning of piping
install90 day contract anticipated Following
contractor work 3-4 month controls installation
Refrigerators and Compressors could be fully
operational by Oct 2005
13Transfer Line Connection from Refrigerator Hall
Farmed out to Fermilab Particle Physics Divison
(PPD) Goal for completion for installation
stage is Oct 2005 Until this connection becomes
fully functional, we will operate with dewar fed
system
14Cryogenic Effort 3 KEK and Forced Flow In
regards to KEK 79 foot long transfer line for
hydrogen test caused excess usage of helium as
well as instabilitieswe will shorten transfer
line and validate instrumentationhope to
incorporate this into mechanical efforts of
Solenoid Need to consider KEK cryostat itself
and desire to re-instrumentKEK needs to take
lead in this as well as resolve heater questions
15In regards to Forced Flow Cryostat Original 3D
model exists for Cryostat Bates Sample
Hydrogen Loop Project Completion On-Hold Lack
of Engineering Priority (Refer Details to
Christine Darve talk)
