• Her father died when she was very young,
  and her mother died when she was 16.

• She married Thomas Hale.
• A few years later Thomas died
  of Cancer.

Her Accomplishments

• In 1973 Clara McBride Hale started
  Hale House. She raised over 500 children whose
  mothers were addicted to drugs.
• She won the Presidential Medal of
  Freedom in 1985 for her kind deeds, and received
  the Living Legacy Award in 1986.

What She Loves

• She really, really, really loves children.
• She raised 3 children of her own and before she
  started Hale House, she had 40 foster children.
