• Founded on October 9, 1776.
• Often named Mission Dolores after a river
• Founded by Father Francisco Palou
• Padres chose site for mission because its beside
  little inlet called Laguna Dolores

Fray Serra

• Fray Sera otherwise known as Father Sera was
  born on November 24, 1713. He was born in
  Majorca, Spain. He became priest in the year of
  1737. He was priest for 47 years. Fray was also
  the first president. Serra died August 28, 1784.
