• John Smith was born in 1580 and died in 1631.

• He sailed to Virginia and landed on April 27th
  1606.

• When he landed, he built a fort named Jamestown.

• It was a large triangular fort with many cabins
  inside.

• But there was one bad thing about Jamestown, it
  was built in a marshland.

• Which that meant there was no fresh water nearby
  and mosquitoes could cause malaria.

• Jamestown had troubles through the winter because
  it no had food.

• Many people starved so the winter of 1609-1610
  was called Starving Time.

• So John Smith went traded with the Indians.

• Before John Smith died, he explored and made a
  map of New England.

• Truly, Jamestown wouldnt have succeeded the
  winter without the help of John Smith.
