3Artists Statement
I have loved to draw ever since I was just a
little girl. I used to draw Twinkie-like horses
and stick people incessantly. I could never get
enough. I bet that I alone am responsible for the
death of at least five-hundred trees. As I got
older my art became more sophisticated, which
leads to where I am as an artist today. I still
really enjoy drawing horses (although they look
less like pastries now), but I also enjoy
experimenting with other animals and subject
matter. The style that I am most comfortable with
is my animé-esque style. Its not quite animé,
but its not quite realism either. I have
recently been trying to break out of my art
bubble, and I think it has really helped me to
improve my art. My favorite medium is
definitely a simple 2 pencil. I love them
because they are easy to use and very versatile.
I am able to get a wide variety of lines and
values without all of that pencil switching that
is required if you have twenty-gazillion drawing
pencils. The switching gets kind of old for me. I
also like using pen and ink. I am a bit of a
perfectionist, so I appreciate the clean lines
that you can achieve with pen and ink. I
usually enjoy doing art just for myself. I would
say that about seventy per cent of my work is
never seen by anyone but me. I tend to be
inspired to draw by what I see or hear around me.
If a song strikes my fancy, I am probably going
to draw something related to it. If I see one of
my beloved kitties lying in a funny position, I
will sketch it down. When I do work that I know
will be viewed by other people I tend to put a
lot of effort into it. I want others to see it
and know how much time I dedicated just for that
one project. I always try to put a little bit of
myself into my work so that others can get a
feeling of what my personality is like.
4Smooch
Pastel ( 34 in. x 12 in.) This is my elongated
self-portrait that I did in Art II. I really
wanted give this a cartooney vibe and just have
fun, and I think I succeeded. After all, whats
the point in doing art if you dont get to have
any fun?
5Croft Barrow Luxury For Your Feet
Graphite ( 12 in. x 24 in.) This project was
very challenging for me, but I still enjoyed it.
It was fun to try and get the exact values to
make the shoes look as realistic as possible, and
I am very proud of the finished product.
6Principles of Design Book
Tempera Paint and Paper ( 12 in. x 7 in.) I had
a wonderful time making all of the scenes in this
book, and I hope that everyone enjoys looking at
them as much as I enjoyed creating them!

8The Handle
Paper and Diluted Glue ( 16 in. x 30 in.) This
project was very tedious, but still enjoyable. It
was fun looking for blue things in all of the
magazines, and I really like the way it turned
out.
