Introduction

• DeskSeal Desktop is a wizard-based, desktop
  utility that enables, even the novice users
• to digitally sign files of any format. The
  software is PKCS7 compliant which is a
• Industry standard and supports embedded PDF
  signing.
• Software supports both Windows and Linux
  platform. Its higher version called DeskSeal
• Desktop PLUS allows third party time stamping and
  encryption-decryption.
• This desktop solution is typically used in a
  scenario where there is a requirement for basic
• signing and low cost solution. The typical
  application of this utility is,
• i. Government sector - for authenticating
  electronic files and reports
• ii. Engineering Sector for approvals of
  designs

• Intuitive wizard guide you through the entire
  signing and verification process

• DeskSeal is available in two versions for Linux
  and Windows Users
• Signatures are maintained in PKCS 7 format
  (industry standard format for digitally signed
  files), Signs files of any format
• When you select a certificate to sign with, you
  are provided with an option to view the
  certificate and all associated details to
  ascertain which certificate you are using
• Signing Confirmation prior to Signing
• Files signed using DeskSeal can be verified using
  DeskSeal Reader(Free verification utility) or
  using any PKCS7 compliant verification utility.
• The Verification process in DeskSeal
  automatically performs certificate validation to
  check the status of the certificate that was used
  to sign (whether valid, revoked or expired)

• DeskSeal Desktop supports embedded PDF signatures
  compatible with native PDF signing
• Signed PDF files can be verified through Adobe
  readerjust with a click of mouse, Thus no need
  of separate third party verification utility
• Option to associate Handwritten signature / Logo
  image in the signature block
• Option to add reason and location in the
  signature block
• Configurable signature placement options in the
  PDF as per client requirement
• Support local machine date time stamping

DeskSeal Desktop PLUS

• DeskSeal Desktop PLUS is a higher version of
  DeskSeal Desktop and additionally along
• with signing-verification offers the following
  additional features
• PKI based Encryption-Decryption
• Third Party Time-Stamping when signed from a
  trusted Third Party time source 
• Other Utilities
• E-Lock provides free verification utility called
  DeskSeal Reader to verify the files
• signed using DeskSeal desktop

Signing Using DeskSeal

• An intuitive wizard of DeskSeal Desktop guides
  user through the signing process
• It enable users to select the files to be signed
  , location to save the signed file and allows
  them to select their X.509 certificate from any
  location i.e. from saved file on computer or on a
  e-Token or smart card and use it to sign files of
  any format
• As required by law in many countries, prior to
  the actual signing, the user is presented with a
  signing confirmation indicating that signing is
  about to take place and that it may have legal
  significance. The user's acceptance represents an
  understanding and consent of the electronic
  signing
