DE Goals Objectives
  • High-performance driving principles in a
    controlled environment
  • The proper line around the track
  • Proper braking, shifting and cornering techniques
  • Use of your vision (ocular driving)
  • On-track awareness, safety and courtesy
  • Vehicle dynamics and car control
  • Apply what you learn to everyday driving
  • Have fun and learn, while meeting some very nice
    interesting people.

What DE is not
  • Racing
  • Practice for racing
  • Timed events
  • Dangerous but it is serious!

Who Can Participate?
  • Current PCA membership
  • 18 years or older
  • Valid drivers license
  • NER allows non-Porsches
  • Other regions may be Porsche-only
  • Pre-event and trackside safety inspection
    required for all cars for each event

DE Event Overview
  • Event registration cost approx 120/day
  • Vehicle safety inspection required for each DE
    event
  • Drivers Meeting each morning
  • Drivers grouped by DE experience
  • 4 - 20 minute track sessions daily
  • Work assignments
  • Serious fun

DE Run Groups
  • Green - Inexperienced DE drivers
  • Yellow - Some DE experience
  • Blue - Limited experience drive solo
  • White - Intermediate drivers
  • Black - Experienced drivers
  • Red - Instructors
  • Advancement is individualized
  • Instructor recommends advancement
  • Student does not have to move unless comfortable
  • Chief Instructor approval required for
    advancement into upper run groups

Students Instructors
  • Novice run groups require Instructors
  • Green - New to DE usually 1-10 DE days
  • Yellow More experienced, but still raw
  • Instructors provided to all novices
  • No cost instruction
  • All instructors are NER-certified
  • Matchups are done with forethought
  • Same instructor all day can be changed if needed
  • Self-paced instruction and run group advancement
  • Ride with your instructor
  • Different instructor at each event recommended

  • Comfortable shoes with no-slip soles

  • Stay hydrated esp. in hot weather

Event Day Activities
  • Event check-in
  • Sign waivers, get schedule, student/instructor
    pairings, other info
  • Claim your space (Paddock area or garage
    depending on venue)
  • Trackside final inspection
  • Remove loose objects from car trunk
  • Affix assigned car
  • Go thru tech line (bring helmet with you)
  • Receive tech inspection run group stickers
    affix to window
  • Drivers Meeting
  • Safety, rules, schedule, etc.
  • Drivers grouped by DE experience (6 groups)
  • Talk to your instructor before going on-track
  • (4) 20 minute on-track sessions per group
