Title: FocusOnAsia
1FocusOnAsia
- This is a mission program based out of Sunset
International Bible Institute in Lubbock, Texas
to reach out to the nations of Asia where
one-half of the worlds population lives. This
vast continent has not had an adequate
presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and - WE ARE WORKING TO CHANGE THIS!!
- OUR GOAL
- To provide quality Biblical instructionministry
training leadership development... and
missionary methods for our brethren in Asia so
they can effectively proclaim Gods Word and
plant churches among the masses of Asia who
otherwise will never hear Gods Saving Message.
With Gods blessings and your generous support we
will labor to this end.
2Sunset International Bible Institute Branch
School Singapore (Southeast Asia)
Where is Singapore? Small country 682 sq
kilometers population 4.2 million Southeastern
Asia, City-State between Malaysia and Indonesia
Slightly more than 3.5 times the size of
Washington, DC This is where we will be
stationed and teaching but all of Asia will be
our mission field!!
3Charles and Tamara Cook, Missionaries in
Asia (primarily India) for 20 years, Instructor
at Sunset International Bible Institute, Lubbock,
TX and missionary to the U.S. for 12 years In
2008 we plan to return to Asia where I will serve
as Administrative Dean for the SIBI Singapore
Ministry Training School in cooperation with the
Pasir Panjang Church of Christ in Singapore.
4We believe that Singapore, Southeast Asia, is the
most strategic place in all of Asia for such a
school. The Pasir Panjang Church of Christ in
Singapore will host the school and the 42 course
curriculum of the Sunset International Bible
Institute used in Lubbock, Texas will be taught.
This will be a 2 to 3 year certificate program
with an on the field training internship. Bible
and Ministry Courses will be taught both live and
via internet (interactive video conferencing) in
real time from the resident classrooms at SIBI in
Lubbock. The obvious effort will be to train
ministers/missionaries who can come to Singapore,
be thoroughly trained and return to their native
places to strengthen already established church
and plant new ones where none now exist. This
will be a concerted effort to reach out to the
unevangelized regions of Asia, make disciples and
plant new churches. I have agreed to serve as
the Administrative Dean under the Sunset
International Branch Division of Lubbock, Tx.
Truitt Adair is the Director and Chris Swinford
serves as Dean of International Operations in
Lubbock. I will be under their directorship and
the oversight of the Elders of the Sunset Church
of Christ, 3723 34th Street, Lubbock, Tx. 79410

It was felt by those directing the already 40
plus SIBI Branch Schools that our Missionary
experience in Asia from 1976 to 1998 justified
inviting us to leave our USA mission efforts
(Focus Northeast/Northwest) in the hands of other
experienced Western missionaries thus allowing us
to return to Asia. I was quite adamant about the
need to find a qualified missionary to take the
USA work before I would accept this assignment.
Several candi-dates are being considered. Our
present plans call for us going to Singapore in
the fall of 07 following the completion of our
already scheduled Focus works in Pennsylvania and
Hawaii. On November 8th we are scheduled to
arrive in Singapore to open the new school, set
up an administra-tive office, and teach the first
series of courses. We are fortunate to have a
very qualified missionary family, Tom and Nancy
Goracke (and children), to join us in this
enterprise. They are graduates of Sunset and
have also served in China, we indeed are most
thankful for their partnership in Asia. Now that
our decision has been made, we are most anxious
to move ahead and ask for your prayers and
financial support for this great work.
