HOMELAND
  • The Creeks lived in Georgia and Alabama.
  • Most Creeks groups lived together in valleys near
    rivers.
  • There were many farms and products and many crops
    were they lived.
  • The chiefs house was used for meetings parties
    and other events.

HOME LAND
  • When there were 400 to 600 houses they would
    build another village.
  • The chiefs house was sometimes called the great
    house.

CLOTHING
  • They used animal skins to make cloth.
  • The shoes were made of leather.
  • Women wore deer skin shirts and a grass shawl
    over there shoulder.
  • Men wore a square of deer skin hung from a strip
    of rawhide around the waist.
  • Children did not wear any clothes until they were
    12 or 13.

FOOD
  • The women and children gathered nuts , berries,
    roots, herbs, and other plants.
  • They grow squash, beans, and corn.
  • Men caught fish in the rivers with spears and bow
    and arrows.
  • They hunted deer, bear, rabbits, and squirrels.
  • They hunted with bow and arrows, spears, and blow
    guns.

GAMES
  • One of the games were the little brother of war.
  • Games were almost as important as farming,
    hunting, and fishing.
  • The fields were over 200 feet long.
  • In the game of the little brother of war there
    can be terrible injuries or even death.
  • They played games at the Green Corn Festival.

FAMOUSE CREEKS
  • Chief Tuscalusa was one of the first Creeks to
    encounter Hernando De Soto and his Spanish army.
  • In 1539, De Soto and his forces marched in to
    Tuscalusas village. Chief
  • Tomochhichi was another great creek mico.
  • His village has on the site of what is now
    Savanhha, Georgia.
