- Booster Club Fee
- Where does the money go? Refer to handout to
reflect on where your money is going. Your money
is going towards the entire program, not just
one level. - If you join, your name will be added to the Eagan
Softball Web-Page. - It costs 75.00 and checks can be made out to
Eagan High School Softball Booster Club. - Current Members Include Mike and Patty
Blanchette, Brad and Kathy Byers, Jeff and Kate
Moulton, Brad and Heidi Haus, Chris and Linda
Holmes, Eric and Judy Johnson, Kurt and Lisa
Soeldner, Tracy Lachenmayer, and Brain
Brinkmeier. - THANKS to all those that have joined and to those
that are joining this evening!!
92009 Softball Budget
- Why do we need to fundraise and what does your
booster club fee go towards. (Refer to handout) - Our Softball Budget
- 20,390.00 (This is for a total salary for almost
6 coaches) - 3,502.00 (This is for umpires and field prep
for game/practice days) - 4,120.00 (This is for bus transportation)
- 103.00 (This is for dues and memberships
for the program) - 28,115.00 (Total Budget for 2009 Season)
- We do not have a supply budget! What does this
mean. This means I do not have any money in my
budget to pay for uniforms, web-page, salary,
trophies (9th-JV), End of the year parties
(9th-JV), Yearly tournaments, and equipment. Our
program will NOT run successfully if we dont
fundraise, have booster membership fees, as well
as our banner sales. It is critical for these
three things do not occur. - Parents also need to now that all players will be
required to purchase black pants (I will have
them ordered through Westwood, socks and a belt)
The cost of these items will be around 45.00.
Please communicate with me if this is a hardship.
10Wildcat Softball Program Philosophy
- 9th Grade Program
- The goal for the 9th grade program is to provide
a quality experience to each athlete while
preparing them to move on to higher levels of
competition. - Players should know how to bunt, steal, slide,
hit, and run the bases aggressively. - Players will learn game strategy while improving
throwing, catching, hitting, fielding, and
running skills. - Athletes will have FUN while learning the game
of softball. - The team will have 12-15 players.
- Players will see a good amount of playing time,
although playing time will not be equal. - Each player will start at least 1 game.
- Practices will be held at the North view Complex
and games will be at the JV field and varsity
field, rotating with the sophomore team. - Players will be expected to attend all practice
unless notification is given. If notification is
not given players will not be able to participate
in the next game. - These players will enjoy highly competitive
softball. - This team plays on the same schedule as the
sophomore program and will travel with this team.
11Wildcat Softball Program Philosophy
- Sophomore
- The goal for the sophomore team is to provide a
place for positive and competitive play. - The sophomore program will consist of seventh,
eighth, freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors
who want to continue learning the game. - The team will consist of 12-15 players, who will
see playing time in each game. - Players will continue working on improving their
skills. - Players should continue progressing towards
understanding the components and strategies of
the game. - Practice will be held at the North view Complex
and games will be at the JV field and Varsity
field, rotating with the freshman team. - Players are expected to attend all practices
unless notification is given. If notification is
not provided players will not be able to
participate in the next game. - This team will play on the same schedule as the
ninth grade program and will travel with them.
12Wildcat Softball Program Philosophy
- Junior Varsity Program
- The goal for the JV team is to prepare players
for the varsity level of competition. Therefore,
the level of should exceed the expectations of
both the 9th grade and sophomore teams. - The JV program will consist of seventh, eighth,
freshman, sophomore, juniors and seniors that do
not have the skill level to play on varsity. - Players may need to review basic strategy of the
game, but should be ready for advanced strategy. - Players will be expected to think and
anticipate the game. - Players will be expected to attend all practices
unless notification is given, to participate in
games. - Players will likely see varsity competition in
the future. - This team will play the same schedule as the
varsity and will travel with them.
13Wildcat Softball Program Philosophy
- Varsity Program
- This is the highest level of softball competition
at Eagan High School. - The varsity program could consist of seventh,
eighth, freshman, sophomores, juniors or seniors
that possess the ability to play at the highest
level. - Players will possess maturity, dedication,
leadership, ability to work hard, and desire. - These attributes will provide players with the
skills and potential to perform at the highest
level of play. - All varsity softball players are expected to
attend all practices, outings or any other
activities that are established. This level is
at the HIGHEST of commitment!! - The varsity program will not exceed 18 players,
and may at times be fewer than 12. - A tournament team will be compiled at the end of
each season. This team will consist of no more
than 18 players and 2 managers. - The tournament team will be completed of the
varsity players, and any outstanding players from
the freshman, sophomore, and junior varsity teams.
14Wildcat Softball Policies
- Coaches Expectations of Players
- Have a good attitude, show positive sportsmanship
and be enthusiastic. - Have self-discipline. Dont wait to be told, JUST
DO IT! - Remain chemically free.
- Be honest and loyal.
- Work hard and hustle at all times.
- Cooperate and encourage your teammates and
coaches. - Player Conduct
- Follow sportsmanship guidelines at all times.
- Respect all teams, coaches, teachers, parents,
fans, and officials. - Support each other at all levels of the program.
- Keep all language clean. This includes on the
field, in the classroom, hallway, and even at
home. - Maintain academic eligibility-pass a minimum of
five classes. - Get to class on TIME!!!
15Wildcat Softball Polices
- Team Travel
- All players must ride the bus to and from games
when busing is provided. - Players must show respect and self-discipline on
the bus. - Players must remember they are representing Eagan
High School. - Players should also encourage each other to act
appropriately. - If you have a special event (i.e. band concert,
play, etc.) You will need to provide prior notice
to the coach that you will not be using
transportation. - Also, players will need to fill out a
transportation form signed by your parent
indicating individuals that you are able to ride
with when transportation is not provided. This
MUST be on file with your coach.
- Equipment
- You are responsible for the equipment that is
issued to you. It is your responsibility to take
care of your equipment and bring it to and from
practices and games. - All equipment must be turned in prior to
receiving any awards. - Any lost or damaged equipment must be paid in
full at the end of each season. - You are also responsible for washing your own
jersey. Make sure you do not iron it.
16Transportation
- All players will be filling out a transportation
form indicating individuals that you can ride
home with for games that transportation is
provided just one-way or not at all. - For the varsity and junior varsity teams I will
be providing transportation both ways when
traveling to Chaska. For the rest of the games
the girls will be providing transportation both
ways. These away games include Apple Valley,
Lakeville South, Rosemount, Eden Prairie, and
Eastview. - For the sophomore and freshman teams I will be
providing transportation one way to Eastview,
Lakeville North, Jefferson, Kennedy, Lakeville
South and Apple Valley. All players will need to
find transportation home. - All players will need to provide transportation
to all weekend tournaments. Varsity will be
playing in both the Polar Classic and the Henry
sibley Tournament. JV will be playing in the
Polar Classic and the Eastview tournament. The
sophomore team will be playing in the Polar
Classic (?) and the Eastview Tournament. The
freshman team will be playing in the Lakeville
South tournament. Dates will be provided to all
players once teams are made. Some dates and
tournaments are still pending. - All buses will leave between 230-245 for games.
All games start at 415. Students in the middle
school will be excused on game days. However,
players will need to be responsible for
communicating with their teachers on missing
assignments, making up tests, etc. There will be
no excuse for a lack of communication with
players and their teachers.
17Communication
- Communication is going to be extremely critical
for all middle school players as well as high
school players and parents during this upcoming
season. - Its very important that if you are sick from
school, participating in a school related
activity or any other acceptable reason for
missing practice, a scrimmage or a game that you
communicate that with your coach. Once teams are
selected, each coach will be giving each player a
phone number or email that you can use to notify
them of an absence. There will be consequences
for each player(s) that has not made an attempt
to communicate, by either phone or email. Your
absence reflects practices, scrimmages, or games. - Parents, you will also find useful the Eagan High
School softball web-page, or the Eagan High
School home-page to monitor daily announcements,
cancellations or important information. When
using the Eagan High School website in the upper
left corner there is a button for announcements
related to softball. Parents can also sign up
for announcements at the high school. This is
also on the website in the calendar portion.
There is a NOTIFY ME button. - It is also critical that if you have questions,
also feel free to email me. If I dont know or
have an answer I will try my best to find it.
18Wildcat Softball Polices
- Practice and Games
- All athletic participation cards must be turned
in before you are allowed to practice/play. - Full effort and attendance is expected at each
practice and game. - Show enthusiasm on and off the field.
- Each player is expected to demonstrate
leadership, not just the captains. - If you are absent from school for more than half
of the day, you may not practice or play in a
game scheduled for that day. - Players with an unexcused absence from practice
or games will be suspended for a period of time.
All absences must be communicated to your
coaching staff.
- School Discipline
- Players should never be suspended from school or
assigned ISS or detention. Again, these
situations will allow suspension for a period of
time from practice and/or games. - One day of ISS/Detention Player will not be
allowed to participate that day. - Second day of ISS/Detention Player will not be
allowed to participate twice as many days as
assigned to ISS/Detention. - Third day of ISS/Detention Player will be asked
to leave the team. - Out of school suspension Player cant
participate until you are back in school. There
will also be consequences established by the
coaching staff.

22Sportsmanship Tips for parents
- 1. Be supportive of the coaching staff
- In front or your child be supportive of the
coaches decisions. If you have problems with
what the coach is doing, it is best to talk
directly with the coach. - 2. Teach Respect for Authority
- a. There will be times when you disagree with a
coach or official, but always remember they are
trying their best and are trying to be fair.
Show good sportsmanship by being positive.
- 3. Let the coach do the coaching, but you can do
some of the teaching - When your child is on the field, let the coach do
the coaching. You can teach sportsmanship and
how to deal with success and failure. Develop
their character and teach life skills that
athletics and activities bring to the forefront. - 4. Help your children learn through failure
- a. The way your child handles failure can help
them to face the certain failures life will throw
them in the future. The worst time for you as a
parent to give advice is immediately after a
disappointment. Let you child cope in their own
way.
23Sportsmanship Tips for Parents
- Get to know the coach since the coach has a
powerful influence on your child, take the time
to attend meetings and get to know the coaching
staff, philosophy, expectations and guidelines. - Focus on your child as an individual focus on
what your child does well and where they need to
improve. Encouragement is essential. - Listen to your child, by staying rationale
always support and listen to your child, but
remember to stay rational until you have
investigated the situation. - Be mindful of your role as a role model take a
good honest look at your actions and reactions in
the athletic arena. These actions are a big cue
to your child and to the others around you. - Show unconditional love the most important
thing-------show your child you love them, win or
lose.
24Activity Fees
- Activity fees will be charged to each student for
participation in all athletics. Students will
NOT be allowed to practice or participate in
these activities until they have filled out and
