NFHS College Application Process for Senior Year
  • Apply on-line and pay application fee to at least
    three colleges (minimally, modestly, and most
    competitive)
  • Request official transcript by completing
    Transcript Request form and submitting addressed
    and stamped envelope(s) to Kim Grogan, Registrar
  • Request official scores from SAT or ACT, if you
    did not specify college(s) on the test
    registration form
  • Request recommendations as needed from counselors
    and teachers and submit Senior Profile and High
    School Resume
  • Allow two-week turnaround.

Student Responsibilities
  • Have SAT/ACT scores sent directly to college from
    the appropriate testing service
  • Be prepared to ask counselor and/or teacher for a
    recommendation during your senior year, if your
    college requires it. Prepare a Senior Profile and
    High School Resume to submit to the counselor or
    teacher from whom you request a recommendation.

Step 5 Develop a Plan to Finance Your Education
  • Determine college costs
  • Investigate all possible resources
  • Be sure to submit a financial aid application
    with admissions application (if separate from
    admissions application)

HOPE Scholarship Changes began with the Class of
2007
  • Students must have a 3.0 core average for CP
    diplomas or a 3.2 core average for Career
    Technical diplomas.
  • HOPE grade eligibility and weighting of courses
    determined by the Georgia Student Finance
    Commission.
  • Core credits counted in calculation are all
    credits attempted in English, Math, Science,
    Social Studies, and Foreign Language.
  • Courses weighted in GPA calculation are AP only
    (.5 weight).
  • Covers tuition, fees a book allowance at
    Georgia public institutions.
  • Pays 3000.00 a tuition equalization to Georgia
    private institutions.
  • Based on grades, not on need.
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA in college.
