- Of our eight interns
- All met general placement-specific outcomes
- 5 returned to college off-slope
- 1 deferred enrollment to Pharmacy School (she is
presently working in the Pharmacy) - 2 entered training/education at Ilisagvik College
and continue to work as Dental Assistants - 5 transitioned into ASNA employment after their
internships to complete their projects - 6 received ETT Training
- 1 returned for a week to assist in our
accreditation process - 7 worked for ASNA during their Christmas break

- 2004 Program funded by NSB NPRA Grant (NSB
Mayors Office/NSB Grants Division), Ilisagvik
Colleges Workforce Development Program ASNA - February 2004 15 days
- Didactic, video, job shadow, chair-side
assisting - Trainees not paid
- Trainee Selection 2004 Program
- 22 applicants (13 native 11 non-native)
- 10 applicants selected (all native 4 from
villages) 4 alternates - Of those selected, 2 declined, 1 failed to
travel 2 alternates were selected - 10 trainees started 8 native/2 non-native 2
trainees from Atqasuk Wainwright - Seven completed 5 were native 2 non-native 2
kiita students 1 from Atqasuk.
16Dental Assistant Trainee Program
- Outcomes
- 2004 Of the seven trainees, all but two accepted
positions at the Dental Clinic 1 will be
eligible for employment when she turns 18 1 was
not interested in employment - 2003 Of the six trainees, 5 were native all six
trainees transitioned into work with ASNA.

- Goal to certify paraprofessionals as primary

Mayors Job Program places temporary employees
into our joint training program - Designed to train and employee local support
skilled staff - We only accept screened candidates in areas in

- 3 transitioned into permanent positions

- 1 is a Central Sterile Technician (and is
training to become a Nationally Certified
Sterilization Technician).

Ilisagvik College and ASNA - Two-week summer camp Campers stayed at the
Ilisagvik dorms - North Slope high school juniors and seniors
- Designed to expose students to health/science
careers - 3 tracks offered Emergency Trauma Technician (10
students), Behavioral Health (0) Medical Office
(6) - Of the 16 students, 6 were from North Slope
villages 10 were from Barrow.
