  • Matriculation
  • An institutional process that enhances access to
    the CCCs and promotes and sustains the efforts
    of credit students to be successful.
  • Matriculation is everybodys business
  • Not just an upfront, student services process

Matriculation Components
  • Admissions Provide a procedure for the
    processing of the admissions application. Provide
    modified or alternate services for the
    matriculation process if necessary for ethnic and
    language minority students and students with
    disabilities.
  • Orientation Provide students and potential
    students with information concerning college
    programs, services, financial assistance,
    facilities and grounds, academic expectations,
    course scheduling and institutional procedures in
    a timely manner.

Matriculation Components
  • Assessment Conduct assessment for all non-exempt
    students to determine student competency in
    computational and language skills. Assist
    students in identifying their aptitudes,
    interests, and educational objectives. Evaluate
    students learning and study skills.
  • Counseling Provide comprehensive academic,
    career and personal counseling services to
    non-exempt students. Develop student educational
    plan in written or electronic form. Make
    appropriate referrals to support services.

  • Student Follow Up Provide post-enrollment
    evaluation of each non-exempt students academic
    progress. Establish a follow up system that
    ensures the regular monitoring for early
    detection of academic difficulty. Make referral
    to appropriate services and curricula as
    necessary.
  • Coordination and Training Develop and implement
    a program for providing all faculty and staff
    with training appropriate to their needs with
    respect to the provision of matriculation
    services.

  • Research and Evaluation Establish and maintain
    institutional research for evaluating efficacy of
    matriculation services and remedial programs and
    services.
  • Prerequisites Develop and implement a board
    approved policy for the establishment and
    enforcement of prerequisites, corequisites, and
    advisories.

    matriculation process.

The Matriculation ProcessFor Non-Exempt Students
  • After being admitted and determined non-exempt,
    students
  • Complete placement tests in reading, English and
    math (Using state validated/approved tests)
  • Complete orientation session
  • Meet with a counselor to review assessment
    results, goals and select courses
  • Register for classes
  • Meet with counselor to develop Student Education
    Plan
