Cooperation between the Dept. of Revenue
Alcohol Tax Division and the Georgia Alcohol
Policy Partnership led to Over 6,000 compliance
checks statewide between 2001 and 2003. A
reduction in illegal sales by almost 50

percent. The overall rate of
compliance in 2003 was 78 percent, although
compliance rates in several communities were even
higher.

  • 13 decrease in students reporting easy access to
    alcohol.
  • 32 increase in student perception of
    apprehension by police for underage drinking.
  • Lower rate of past 30 day alcohol use among high
    school students compared to the state average
    (36 in the county vs. 42 statewide).
  • 35 decrease in current marijuana use among
    high-school students.
