• Backgammon opening position

• The triangles marked on the backgammon board are
  called points.
• The points are numbered 1-24 according to their
  location on the home board.
• Your 1-point is the farthest point to your right,
  while your partner's 1-point is the farthest
  point to the right of his/her home board. In
  other words your 1-point is your partner's
  24-points

Each player gets 15 checkers one color for each
player

• To set up the backgammon board for the opening
  position, both players put
• 5 checkers on your 6-point
• 3 checkers on your 8-point
• 5 checkers on your 13-point
• 2 checkers on your 24-point
