Daily Folders Homework

• Please check your childs folder for frequent
  communication
• Homework will be sent home on a monthly calendar.
  Please send homework back in your childs folder
  on the due date listed.
• Please do not send the homework back before the
  due date

Language Arts
The language arts program is based on a balanced
literacy approach.

• Students participate in shared, interactive,
  guided, and independent reading and writing
  activities.
• Children are assessed and their instruction is
  based on individual needs.
• Groups are flexible and change according to
  progress.

Math

• The math program is a skill building and
  spiraling curriculum.
• Activities consist of manipulatives for
  individual and small group interaction and
  encourage individual growth.
• The kindergarten math program allows for
  differentiation.
• Opportunities for at home enrichment and
  reinforcement will be provided.
• Topics include time, money, adding, and
  subtracting

Volunteering

• We will offer many volunteer opportunities
  throughout the year for special events such as
  science labs and field day.
• Our room mother will contact you when volunteers
  are needed.

Holidays Birthdays

• We have many special events for holidays. Your
  childs room mother will be contacting you with
  more information as the holidays approach.
• We are unable to pass out birthday invitations at
  school, please mail invitations.
• If you would like to provide a birthday snack,
  please drop the snack in the office at the
  beginning of the day.
• Please do not send cupcakes, cakes, balloons, or
  goodie bags.

Attendance

• Please send your child to school everyday unless
  he or she is ill or you have a family emergency.
  
• You will need to check in and get a visitors pass
  every time you come to school.
• To encourage independence, please allow your
  child to walk to the classroom on their own.
• Children being picked up always need to be signed
  out even at dismissal.
• Written notification of transportation changes or
  changes in destination must be sent to school.
• We will provide a trip journal for absences.

Snack

• We only have five minutes for snack each day.
  Please pack a small, nutritious snack for your
  child.
• Snack is not a substitute for lunch and we are
  not allotted time for lunch.
• Please do not send gum, candy, soda, or glass
  bottles.

Elementary School Tips

• Please contact the librarian directly regarding
  lost books or questions about library books.
• Medicines must be given to the school nurse
  directly from an adult, please do not send in
  your childs backpack.
• Please contact the music teacher if you have a
  question about your childs music grade.
• Please contact the office if your have a question
  regarding attendance.
