January Volunteer Highlight On Saturday, Jan 31,
2009, five YP members volunteered at the African
American Read In held at the Majestic Theater in
downtown Dallas. YP served as ushers seating
attendees, handing out programs, collecting
raffle tickets and providing general assistance.
We were proud to see YPs own William Patterson
on the stage as one of the authors chosen to
give a brief testimonial and publicize his work.

- On January 17, 2009, the Health and Quality of
Life Committee held an Ice Skating event at the
Galleria for the YP members. - Approximately 10 members attended and 2 new
members joined. - The American College of Sports Medicine says
that on average, for every hour of continuous
skating, a 150-pound person burns about 600
calories. Thats about the same as running five
miles in an hour. - The calorie burn increases to about 800 an hour
by adding the basic skills of skating. - Thank you for joining us!
