Title: The Cyprus Flower Essences: An Introduction
1The Cyprus Flower EssencesAn Introduction
2What are flower essences?
- Simple extracts of fresh flowers in pure water.
- Homeopathically diluted and potentised.
- An energy-based healing modality.
- Active mainly on the emotional level.
- Entirely safe to use no side effects.
- Effective on both acute and chronic states.
3Who discovered flower essences?
- The principle that flowers have an emotional
energy has long been understood subconsciously
(e.g. roses and love). - Flowers were apparently used in ancient Egypt and
elsewhere to treat the emotions. - Dr Edward Bach rediscovered the use of flower
essences to heal emotional and mental problems. - During the 1920s and 1930s he developed a range
of essences to treat some 38 negative mental /
emotional states, using plants native or
naturalised in Britain.
4What was Dr Bachs new idea?
- Dr Bach trained originally as a physician, but
gradually realised that many physical illnesses
have underlying emotional /mental causes. - He had seen the effectiveness of energy healing
using homeopathic remedies, based on the
principle of treating like-with-like with
highly diluted extracts of substances that would
provoke the same range of symptoms that the
patient showed. - He then made the conceptual leap to energy
healing for the emotions by using flower
extracts.
5Are flower essences the same as Homeopathic
remedies?
- Flower essences are similar to homeopathic
remedies in that - They work best if diluted and potentised
(energised) - Small doses can still be effective
- They promote the bodys ability to heal itself,
rather than salving the symptoms.
6- They differ from homeopathics in that
- The original flowers are entirely harmless
- They are effective at relatively lesser dilutions
(typically 1X to 1C) - They can be combined together without interfering
with the effectiveness of any component essence - They are much less sensitive to interfering
substances such as mint or coffee
7What do flower essences do for us?
- Flower essences impact on our emotional and
mental state, gently correcting imbalances so
that we feel happier in ourselves. - By bringing our thoughts and emotions into
greater harmony they have a very positive effect
on our bodily health. - At the same time they help to remove negative
thought patterns, beliefs and self-perceptions
that hinder our spiritual development, thus
ultimately facilitating our spiritual growth and
long-term happiness.
8How did Dr Bach research the emotional properties
of flowers?
- Dr Edward Bach discovered that he had the ability
to sense the properties of different flowers
intuitively. - If he needed to heal a particular problem, he
would sometimes actually experience the symptoms
himself until he came across a flower that would
bring him relief. - In this way he tapped into universal sources of
healing knowledge, as countless shamans had done
before him all over the world.
9How are new essences developed?
- The intuition is still the only route to
discovering the properties of new flower essences
there are no books to help! - Useful techniques for accessing the intuition are
dowsing (divining) and meditation. - Many plants also hold subtle clues to their
emotional properties the mediaeval Doctrine of
Signatures. - The attractiveness or otherwise of flowers gives
no clue to their value. Many of the most useful
are small and dowdy.
10Why develop new essences in Cyprus?
- Flowers coincidentally seem best able to heal
the emotional temperaments of the area in which
they are found (the local emotional climate). - Any flower essences will work anywhere in the
world, but the most effective are likely to be
the local ones. - Populated by highly emotional peoples, the
Mediterranean has great need of effective local
essences! - They will also work well on anyone who has lived
in this climate for more than a few months. - The Cypriot healing plants generally are
recognised as being amongst the most potent in
the world.
11How many new essences are available?
- Up to now we have developed 34 new flower
essences, plus two blends (Give-up Smoking
Relationship Stress) - 22 of these are Life Management Essences that
relate to the typical day-to-day emotional
disturbances. - 12 are Spiritual Seeker Essences which relate
particularly to the problems encountered by those
pursuing a more spiritual path in life.
