consciousness (likely due to enhanced sensitivity
of DA receptors due to DA blockers) ? Treat w/
bromocriptine (DA agonist) and dantrolene (the
same thing you use for malignant hyperthermia)

- Migraine Prophylaxis
- Propranolol (hard for pts to exercise)
- Valproic Acid (hairy, bad teeth, etc.)
- Methysergide (see above)
- Topiramate (kidney stones, inhibit oral
contraceptives) - All work by increasing the threshold of central
neurons ? decreasing the firing in the trigeminal
complex (nucleus caudalis) - Alternatives B2 (dark urine), Mg
- Triptan Contraindications
- Cardiovascular Disease
- Basilar Migraines
- Pregnancy
- Related to intense vasoconstrictor action
Note (per Dr. Pruitt) lots of people have
migraines that dont meet these criteria (up to
94 of HA that present are migraines)but beware
3 are brain tumors (etc.)
5HT-1B present on BVs CN V 5HT-1D present
on coronary gt cerebral BVs

Note 5HT-1A is the inhibitory autorecptor ?
works against the SSRIs b/c you increase 5HT
and then it hits 5HT1A decreasing the rate of
firing
