6What is HACCP?
- Acronym for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control
Point - A system which identifies, evaluates and controls
hazards which are significant for food safety
(CAC, 2001) - A science based preventive system of assuring
food safety through hazard analysis and control
measures.

- Established due to the requirements for
importation of fish and fish product by EU (1996)
and USA (1997). - Ministry of Health (MOH) appointed as a
competent authority for fish and fish product as
in Directive 96/608/EC dated 11 Oct. 1996

Big Industry (BI) - Comprises 150 full time
workers with an annual sale turn-over of RM 25
million Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) -
Comprises less that 150 full time workers with an
annual sale turn-over of not more that RM 25
million
Payment for a maximum of 1 day auditing RM 550
will be charged for each subsequent day audit
is extend Airfares, food, accommodation, mileage
and other cost incurred by the auditor including
follow-up onsite auditing - borne by the company
