Title: A Random Prelude to a

1
A Random Prelude to a
Seemingly
  • Beautiful Symphony

Ephesians 210--For we are God's workmanship
(poem, work of art, symphony), created in Christ
Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in
advance for us to do.
2
A nonsensical summary
  • A humble watch easily comforts and melts snow

3
Humble
  • I Peter 55b--All of you, clothe yourselves with
humility toward one another, because, God
opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's
mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
  • What will it be like when He lifts us up?
    (See I Peter 510 Philippians 23-5)

4
Watch
  • Your Character--v. 12
  • Your Content--v. 13
  • Your Conduct--vv. 14-15
  • I Timothy 411--Command and teach these things.
12 Don't let anyone look down on you because
you are young, but set an example for the
believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith
and in purity. 13 Until I come, devote
yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to
preaching and to teaching. 14 Do not neglect
your gift, which was given you through a
prophetic message when the body of elders laid
their hands on you. 15 Be diligent in these
matters give yourself wholly to them, so that
    everyone may see your progress.
  • 16 Watch your life and doctrine closely.
Persevere in them, because if you do, you will
save both yourself and your hearers (those
    watching).

5
Easily
  • Hebrews 121--Therefore, since we are surrounded
by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us
throw off everything that hinders and the sin
that so easily entangles (trips us up), and let
us run with perseverance the race marked out for
us. 2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author
and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set
before him endured the cross, scorning its shame,
and sat down at the right hand of the throne of
God. 3 Consider him who endured such
opposition from sinful men, so that you will not
    grow weary and lose heart.
  • Why do we throw it off? (v. 1b I Peter
    211--...wars against soul. )
  • How do we throw sin off? (put off sin and put
    on...)
  • Purpose--...the race marked out for us
  • Perseverance--run with perseverance...
  • A Person--...fix our eyes on Jesusconsider
    him
  • Personify sin--...sin is crouching at your door
it desires to have you, but you must master it
    (Genesis 46-7).

Sin

Comfort
  • II Corinthians 13--Praise be to the God and
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who
comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can
comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we
    ourselves have received from God.
  • Reasons to Worship? vv. 3-4
  • Reason for Trouble ...so that we
can comfort those in any trouble
    with the comfort we ourselves
    have received from
    God.

Out of great healing comes great ministry.
7
He comforts us so we
might comfort others. The melting
snow from the
winter of our lives refreshes
nourishes the lives of
others--Praise God!
Reasons To Worship
  • II Corinthians 13--Praise be to the God and
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who
comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can
comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we
    ourselves have received from God.

Lets make sense out of this nonsensical summary
  • A humble watch easily comforts and melts snow

9
What should we do with these random notes/verses?
(Write a Symphony of Praise!)
  • A. Receive the call from these passages
  • Humble ourselves--I Peter 56
  • Watch our life and doctrine--I Tim. 416
  • Lay aside sins that easily entangle us--Heb. 121
  • Receive Gods comfort and praise Him for it
    --II Corinthians 13-4
  • B. Rejoice in the consequences
  • God will lift us up in due time--I Peter 56b,10
  • God will save us and our hearers--I Timothy 416
  • We will run with perseverance the race marked out
    for us--Hebrews 121b
  • We will comfort others with the comfort we have
    received from God--II Corinthians 13

10
God wants to take the random experiences (notes)
of our lives and write a beautiful symphony--are
you willing to submit to His composition?
  • Are you willing to humble yourself under His
    mighty hand?
  • Will you watch your life and doctrine more
closely? God wants you to carefully watch your
    1) character 2) content 3) conduct. Do
you understand the implications to yourself and
    those who are watching/hearing you?
  • Will you lay aside the sin(s) that easily
entangle you and run with perseverance the race
marked out for you...looking to Jesus?
  • Will you receive Gods comfort and with praise in
your heart invest it in others?
