IRF Mission

• The mission of the Integrated Research Facility
  (IRF) is to direct, coordinate and facilitate the
  conduct of emerging infectious disease (EID) and
  biodefense research to develop vaccines,
  countermeasures and improved medical outcomes for
  patients.

NIAID IRF at Ft. DetrickVision and Mission

• What distinguishes the NIAID IRF at Fort Detrick
  from any other high-containment facility in
  existence is the capability to apply clinical
  diagnostic and management tools to advanced
  animal models under BSL-4 conditions.
• The IRF program will work to bridge laboratory
  bench to patient bedside.
