Saltdean Primary School News, keeping you up to

Newspaper launched by Press Gang!
Year 6 had the idea of creating a School
newspaper and here is the result. Six members of
the Press Gang (See photo) have worked during
their lunch hour on Tuesdays. In future editions,
more articles and interviews will be added, watch
this space!

! INTERVIEW TIME !  Hello and welcome to
INTERVIEW TIME, this is the first ever
interviewing being held at Saltdean Primary
School and you can thank the wonderful SCHOOL
NEWSPAPER CLUB.We have been interviewing
different people from different ages, and their
comments will be presented on the next few pages
of the newspaper. Press Gang Reporter Alina

INTERVEIW Morgan Thompson and Connie Savage, 6M
from the Saltdean School Choir. How do you feel
about performing? Morgan Im looking forward to
singing with my friends and simply having
fun! Connie Brilliant! I love performing! How
much do you like singing on a scale of 1 to
10? Morgan 6/10. Connie 10/10 Have you done
Choir before? Morgan No I havent done Choir
before. Connie No, I hadnt heard of it
before. Do you like the songs you have to
sing? Morgan Yeah, I especially like the song
called Cold Nights. Connie I like them Do you
want to do any more concerts after the one your
preparing for? Morgan Yeah, I would. Connie

Exhibition is a sell out!
In November, Saltdean Primary held a fabulous Art
Exhibition in the south hall as part of Art and
DT week. Every child participated in showing
their individual artwork, which was framed and
available for all parents and Carers to buy. Well
done Mrs Ruck for all her hard work.

Old fashioned mince pies

• Dough
• butter, 125 g (4 oz)
• white flour, plain 225 g (8 oz)
• mincemeat, 225 g (8 oz)
• egg, lightly beaten 1
• caster sugar
• cream
• Fruity Mincemeat
• Lemon, grated rind and juice from 1
• Raisins/sultanas, 125 g (4 oz) of each
• Currants dried peaches (or apricots, pears),125
  g (4 oz) of each
• Mixed spice, 1.25 ml (quarter tsp)
• Sugar, light brown 100 g (3.5 oz)
• Orange juice, 100 ml (4 fl oz)
• Eating apples, 200 g (7 oz)
• White grapes, seedless 125 g (4 oz)
• Christmas recipe instructions
• Mincemeat Combine the brandy, brown sugar, mixed
  spice, dried fruit, and lemon rind with juice.
  Add cubed apple and halved grapes. Mix and keep
  at about 5 degrees centigrade for a minimum of a
  day.
• Make a dough with water (60 ml, 4 tbsp), the
  butter and flour. Knead until smooth and roll out
  a layer of thin pastry. Cut out 48 round pieces
  of pastry using a cutter (5.5 cm, 2.25 inch).

walked with my friends and what did I say Hey
what a delightful day! Its back on Monday and
walk to school Hey I look like a fool So I play
with my friends and do some extra work When its
math I do a shirk Hey what a delightful day

Budding song writer Stan has written a song about
the day in the life of a handsome young man.

KS2 Guitar club is run on a Thursday morning for
half an hour by Duncan Howlett. At the club you
learn how to play different chords and songs
including Jack and Jill, Clementine, Going to the
zoo and If youre happy and you know it. Connor
Lawday said I enjoy playing the guitar and it
takes 2-3 days to learn a simple song. Id love
to be able to play the song comfortably numb by
