2Dance the movement of the body in a rhythmic way
usually to music and a given space, for purpose
or just taking in some delight of having some fun
3Ballet
Ballet is a theatrical dance that tells a story.
It began in the Renaissance Courts in France.
King Louis XIV created the Academie Royale de
Danse in 1661.
4Ballroom
Ballroom or Social dance is mainly in couples.
The most well known of these dances began in the
1600s, like the Minuet shown here. This dance
also began in King Louis XIV court.
5Waltz
This is a drawing of people waltzing in 1807 in
Vienna, Austria, where it became popular.

for over 2,000 years. They played a vital role
for Japans opera.

This is an Egyptian picture of the funeral dance
that they did when their Pharaohs had died this
is a new type of dance though it is a feminine
style to use.

dance was did to appeal the dead kings.
13Flamenco
This is a picture of a dance called Flamenco a
dance from Spain and by the gypsies.
14Folk Dance
This is a picture of Folk Art/ Dance. Folk
carries a high degree of cultural insularity and
a point of view.
15Hula Dance
This is a picture of a hula girl.The Hula comes
from ancient Hawaiians passed along with the
stories and legends.
16Jazz
Here is a picture of Jazz dance. Jazz started
around the 1900s. It was popular around the 1930s
through the 1940s. Jazz roots come from the black
Americans .

This is a picture of Kortax.Kortax was started
around480-406 BC.After the women dance the men
followed in the disguise of lecherous satyrs.
18Maypole
Here is a picture of Maypole dancing. Maypole
dancing is a ceremonial folk dance performed
around a tall pole garlanded with greenery or
flowers often hung with ribbons.

Here is a picture of medieval dancing. This
started around the 1500s.
20Native American
The Native American dances have been around for
as long as the Native Americans have.Dance can be
a way of expressing joy or prayer for the Native
Americans.
21Neolithic
This is a picture of the Neolithic dance.
22Rustic
Rustic dance was around the 1400s to the
1500s.They usually dance around a tree in a big
circle. With a man running through the circle.
23Square Dance
Square dance is for couples in groups of four to
two.Square dance was popular at the court of
Louis the XV. But supplanted later by the
quadrille.
24Tap Dance
Tap dance developed in the 1940s. By two African
Americans named Ralph Keeler and Daniel Emmett.
25Tribal Dance
These are African arts/tribal dance. This dance
is appreciated as a social occasion but is a
simultaneously enjoyed activity.
